Your Opinion Needed at the Upcoming Washoe County Planning Commission on May 3 at 6:30 PM

See this link TM16-001 Colina Rosa Staff Report 5-3-16.pdf for the Washoe County Planning Commission (WCPC) agenda for Tuesday, May 3rd, at 6:30pm at the County Building where the Colina Rose housing development on Mt. Rose Hwy. will be re-considered.

The Planning Commission ‘continued’ this issue from our April 5th meeting when all Commissioners expressed reservations about several aspects of the project, see discussions in the draft meeting minutes here: April 5, 2016 Draft Minutes.pdf.

This issue is the first substantive issue on the May 3rd agenda so deliberations will likely be concluded by 7:15pm or so.

Finally, see my op-ed in the RGJ on this issue here, one-view-mt-rose-highway-scenic-corridor-concrete-canyon/83257026/, largely reflecting my comments at the April 5th WCPC meeting.

To the extent other Arrowcreek residents might be interested, please forward this email to them as my interest is in transparency and inclusiveness so that no citizens will be ‘surprised’ when the issue is finally decided.

More housing in Southwest Reno? Where should it go? ArrowCreek411 blogged about Washoe County Planning Commissioner Thomas Daley’s Reno Gazette Journal article on April 25th discussing development on our Mt. Rose Highway, the only Nevada highway in the entire state that is designated “scenic” (other than “The Strip” in Las Vegas)….

“Despite Nevada’s 110,567 square miles, only this state route, about a 24 mile-long stretch starting at South Virginia Street and ending at Incline Village, warrants this designation.

So you might think that those federal, City of Reno and Washoe County entities, who control the zoning and development decisions along this highway, would carefully limit such plans to ensure they do not ruin for eternity this very small venue of spectacular views for those who transit this corridor.”

The ArrowCreek HOA is specifically prohibited from representing the lot or resident owners at any hearing according to our ArrowCreek Articles of Incorporation. So it will be up to individual owners to go to the county meetings and lodge any protests.
