Friends of ArrowCreek (FOA) Pay Debt

By Marcella Corona mcorona@rgj.com
Reno Gazette Journal

The FOA has paid off their $1.4 million golf course debt to Washoe County this last January. This has many folks talking about the future of The Club at ArrowCreek.

From Marcella’s article:

“We are very excited about the growth of The Club at ArrowCreek, and we are looking forward to continuing our pace of growth in the years to come,” Jayson Petersen, general manager, said in a statement Tuesday.

Friends of ArrowCreek, a local group of homeowners, paid the final payment of the debt to Washoe County late last month.

“We are very pleased to have accomplished this milestone within our first 16 months of operation,” Gary Pestello, Friends of ArrowCreek member manager, said in a statement.

Washoe County Residents Warned About Ongoing Phone Scams Involving Jury Service

Second Judicial District Court warns residents about ongoing phone scams involving jury service.

Beware of scammers posing as Washoe County Sheriff’s Office personnel.

Reno, Nevada. Feb. 5, 2016. Washoe County’s Second Judicial District Court and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office continue to receive reports from the public about an ongoing phone scam in which the scammers identify themselves as Sheriff’s Office personnel and tell the potential victims they owe substantial fines for failing to report for jury service.

Public awareness is the most effective way to defeat these scams. The Second Judicial District Court is warning residents about these scams and asks for the public’s help in telling family, friends and neighbors.

Scammers claim that the call recipient failed to appear for jury service on a specific date and that a fine of up to $2,500 must be paid to avoid arrest. Scammers will often add that multiple letters have already been sent to the potential victim and that law enforcement will be coming to the recipient’s home to effectuate an arrest if the fine is not settled.

The Second Judicial District Court does not impose monetary sanctions for missed jury service over the phone. Additionally, the Second Judicial District Court does not accept payments over the phone.

If the public has questions or concerns about jury service, they are encouraged to call the Second Judicial District Court’s Jury Manager at 775-328-3152. Additional information may also be found atwww.washoecourts.com.

Anyone who has suffered a loss as a result of this scam should contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office at (775) 328-3001 (option 7).

Open Letter to the ACHOA Board: Enhancing ArrowCreek

Sent: 1/27/2016 7:36:59 A.M. Pacific Standard Time
Subj: Open Letter to the ArrowCreek Board

Hi Jeanne,

It’s been a long time since my last effort to communicate to the Board through your venue. You might recall that my last effort was to get answers from the Board or Rich Kenny about the FOA/HOA proposal to purchase the Golf Course and I never received a reply…even after contacting you to prompt a response to see what happened to the request. The response, through you, was that the answers would be included in a meeting presentation. None of my questions were addressed.

I’m trying again. Attached is an Open Letter to the Board that in a positive upbeat fashion synopsizes a number of things that might be accomplished by the Board to enhance ArrowCreek. Taken from my management consulting experience, the list of things to do will improve ArrowCreek’s sense of community through advocacy of community interest groups, its long-term direction, its real estate values, its management, its resident communications program, and others.

I look forward to the Board’s review of the document and the potential actions of the Board to improve and enhance ArrowCreek for all its residents.

Regards, Jim Verhey

Call Us Crazy, But We’re Making This Caucus Business a Lot of Fun! Join the Party –

swd

caucusCaucus (noun) – A local meeting of people from one political party to select delegates or candidates.

Sounds so simple, doesn’t it? Then why do so many people avoid participating in such an important process? Truthfully, it’s because most people don’t really understand what it is or how it’s done. Well, we have a fix for that! We have a way to make caucus training as fun and easy as pie – pizza pie, that is! Intrigued? Come and see what we mean – you won’t be disappointed. Mark your calendar and join us Wednesday, February 3rd at the Club at Arrowcreek.

Social time begins at 5:30 p.m. with light appetizers and no-host bar, followed by a brief business meeting at 6 p.m. At 6:30, in lieu of our usual speaker, we will be holding a Mock Caucus to get you in-the-know and in-the-mood for the real thing. Come prepared to choose your winning pizza flavor and see if it will be viable. Will the pepperoni pizza lovers win the most delegates or will it be the sausages and olive pizza lovers? The only sure way to help your favorite pizza topping win is to show up on February 3rd and caucus for your choice.

Even if you’ve attended one of our neighborhood gatherings or a training at Democratic Headquarters, this meeting is for you. Who else does this with all the fun, friends, food, and wine? So join us and be sure to invite your friends, neighbors, awww… heck, even your relatives to come along. The more the merrier!

Remember, the State Democratic Caucus 2016 is on Saturday, February 20th. We’re the third in the nation – our results can really influence the outcome of this election! It’s important to get as many Democrats as we can to participate in this.
