RE: ACHOA Board Update on The Club at ArrowCreek

Dear ArrowCreek Members,

The ArrowCreek Homeowners Association (ACHOA) is awaiting word from the private corporate owner of the golf courses, the Friends of ArrowCreek (FOA), that they are ready to resume financial disclosures and active negotiations with respect to the terms of sale of the golf courses to the ACHOA. As previously reported, the FOA has put these discussions “on hold” while they try to build their private golf club memberships rolls using new pricing packages which were announced in February. As we have frequently stated and reiterate today, no golf property purchase will occur until all the facts have been gathered and explained to the ArrowCreek homeowners. No purchase of property can take place without an affirmative vote of a majority of ArrowCreek owners.

While the FOA hones its golf model, the ACHOA is collecting background data such as the recently released study by UNR Professor Mark Pingle of published research on the effect of golf courses on home values. We have also disseminated a survey to homeowners so that we can learn what amenities homeowners use and would like to have available to them.

Representatives of the ACHOA are meeting with Reno area realtors on a continuing basis to provide their agents with the latest and most accurate information about the status and vitality of the ArrowCreek golf courses. The Board wants realtors to appreciate that ArrowCreek remains a well financed, well managed and vital community.

I Can’t See The Lights! #YourPower

World Earth Hour happens this coming Saturday (It is always observed on the last Saturday of March.) wherever you are on Earth at 8:30 p.m. Local Time.

Emma will be displaying her artwork in her very first one-woman show – a.k.a. dedicated to only her paintings from March 30 through May 8, 2015 at the Metro Gallery in Reno City Hall! Receptions are Thursday April 2nd 4:30- 6:45pm and Thursday May 7th 5-7pm. Emma hopes to see you there!!

Punk Rocker Frog and Western Skink

This punk rocker frog was a highlight of weird news this morning and I thought of a few ArrowCreek kids who would love to have one. Since these frogs live in the Ecuador rain forest, it may be hard to get one as a pet. However, a local lizard may be just as interesting if it could be caught! Just this last fall for the first time in our 15 years at ArrowCreek we saw several Western Skinks with bright blue tails in our yard.

Great News! AC Art Guild ArTown Application Accepted!

Great news just came in! Connie Ghysels just received a call from Stacey at ArTown that the ArrowCreek Art Guild function has been accepted as one of the official activities of Reno’s July ArTown festival! Determined that ArrowCreek would have an event even if we didn’t make official status, the members have been busy hand painting golf balls and decorated tee flags for a putting contest. Now all those little golf balls can be painted in earnest! The Club at ArrowCreek will be offering a prize package for our charity’s drawing. It is exciting to be in the ArTown Book! Congratulations to Connie and Emma for their dedication and hard work to make it happen!

UNR Literature Review of Home Value Factors

The UNR “Literature Review of How Home Values Are Impacted By Various Factors” by Mark Pingle, Professor of Economics, and Cameron Belt, Graduate Student of Economics, of March 8, 2015 has been posted on the ArrowCreek HOA website. After their report, there is an Appendix A: An Accounting of Articles Offered By People From ArrowCreek and Appendix B: A Note on HOA Dues and Their Effect on Home Values. This is will be a significant study when Dr. Pingle and Mr. Belt complete the second part of their work because there is not much information available about home value for recent years – since the housing bubble popped – and especially targeting Northern Nevada.
