Happy International Women’s Day!! Yes, it is! Google even has a special google picture! See more here. Yes, guys, there is also a men’s day… it is Nov 19. See here ! Ha! I can learn something every day!

It Is Time Again! Don’t Forget!

clocksIt’s that time again! Don’t forget to set your clocks AHEAD one hour before you go to bed tonight! In Spring we spring ahead and in Fall we fall back. We lose an hour tonight! If you are all scientific, you can wait until 2 am tomorrow, Sunday, March 8, to do it!

Adding More Hours to the Day

I don’t know about you, but I am for ever and ever running out of time in my day. I seem to have half my to-do list still poking at me when it is already way past a reasonable bedtime. I am going to try this trick I just found – in an article by Jessica Stillman for INC. magazine called A Simple Trick For Adding More Hours to the Day. Jessica refers to a blog written by Dr. Christine Carter, a sociologist and author, called How to Find More Than 24 Hours in a Day – Finding the minimum effective dose of everything!

Have a read! Will you try it? Share what you think! Have a great weekend!

Lots of Personalities Make A Community

As I researched the different ways of doing quantitative, qualitative, empirical, theoretical and practical data gathering, I was reminded that different people relate to different kinds of reasoning. The different personality types were much more interesting to the “social” me rather than delving into statistics – which as far as I’m concerned is just manipulation of data to justify the desired end.

On to lighter conversation. . .

So, do you remember the Enneagram of Personality? It is a typology that is more encountered in business situations of trying to get the “TEAM” working better together by understanding that other people are not necessarily just like you, or spiritual enlightenment states for self-awareness exercises… Well, we can get right back to hogwash and bad behavior really fast or take a deep breath, read through this wikipedia collection of the concept and ponder the nine types of personality for a few moments. Which type are you? How big are your wings? What happens when you stress? How do you behave when you are on top of your world? Remember that other people in the community are not exactly like you, no matter how much you want them to be. The community is stronger if we all try to understand where the other people are coming from because of their own personal experiences and we all respect our differences.

Here is Wikipedia‘s collection of information on the Enneagram of Personality.

Here is the table. The table on-line has further links.

If this appalls you, maybe this is easier to connect with: Community is Everything

tennis ball–  You might not recognize HIC Investment Company LP by name, but they are the owners of the Lakeridge Tennis Club.  They have received a Notice of Default (click Log In tab) for missing the 1 December 2014 payment on their $10,700,000 deed of trust.  HIC is also in default with the Secretary of State and does not have a current business license.

Lakeridge Tennis Club sits on a prime 9.25 acre site at the corner of McCarran and Plumas.  If rezoned MF30, the site could accommodate 275 units – more if the City allows greater density, which I think they will.  I think the days of tennis being played on the site are limited.

–  The purchase of the land and water rights beneath the Somersett Golf and Country Club closed escrow last week for $2.75M.  The Somersett Owners Association are now “protected” if SGCC fails financially.  Before you…
